Department of Journalism And Mass Communication
The discipline of Journalism and Mass Communication found its inception in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh in the year 2009 as a self-financed course, initially up to the level of an Advanced Diploma. However, due to the burgeoning popularity of this subject, it evolved into a full-fledged graduation program. As the adage goes, ‘to be informed is to be empowered,’ and Media Studies encapsulates this notion. When knowledge is amalgamated with skill development, students are immersed in both theoretical and practical facets, mentally and physically preparing them to navigate the demanding roles within the media and its associated domains. The Institution not only motivates but also assists students in securing internships and job placements.
Consequently, many secure employment during or immediately after graduation. Several successfully clear entrance exams for esteemed institutions, pursue advanced studies, and secure positions within various media outlets. Media, often referred to as the ‘fourth pillar of our Constitution,’ wields significant influence, and as such, we endeavor to instill ethical foundations in our students. This ensures that they evolve into responsible citizens, journalists, and adept media professionals.
