The National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) unit of Dr.Y.S.Parmar G.P.G.College Nahan is working under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Dinesh Bhardwaj, Principal, Dr.Y.S.ParmarG.P.G.College, Nahan. This wing encourages students to take up their social responsibility in an efficient way. Sole aim of this wing is to inculcate the spirit of service among college students to help individuals, groups and communities. Our volunteers take part in various activities, they work in villages, slums and voluntary agencies to complete 120 hours of regular activities during an academic year.
The NSS wing of our institution has been rigorously conducting and participating in the extension activities from their inception to inculcate the virtues of social responsibility among the students fraternity. They have been encouraged to participate in various activities conducted by the institution and other government and non-government organizations under the supervision of programme officers Dr.Vinita Pal and Prof.B.R.Thakur. N.S.S. wing of the institute is doing a valuable work by aiming at nurturing social awareness among students through its various activities.
Last year our N.S.S. volunteers took part in the Swachh Bharat Summer internship (SBSI) from 10th June – 31st July 2019. As a part of this internship, they performed many activities like cleanliness. The area selected for this project was Banog. The interns through this project were encouraged to share their internship journey on social media or using the hashtags #SBSI. A Mehandi competition was organized in the college on the occasion of Teej on 25th July 2019. The purpose of this competition was to inculcate or to maintain the spirit of our rich tradition and culture. N.S.S. Volunteers took part in a rally on 30th July 2019 by shouting different slogans. The purpose of the rally was to sensitize the people of the area about cleanliness. To spread awareness among college students and the public nearby the area Banog. N.S.S. volunteers organized a Campaign on 20th sept. 2019. The main purpose of this campaign was to spread awareness on the adverse effects of plastic bags. Volunteers urge shoppers of the nearby area not to use polythene bags. Dr. Y.S. Parmar G. P. G. College, Nahan celebrated N.S.S. Day on 24th sept. 2019. This day was celebrated with great favor and enthusiasm. N.S.S. seven days’ camp was organized at Dr. Y.S Parmar G.P.G. College w.e.f. 1st Feb.2020 to 7th Feb. 2020. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Dinesh Bhardwaj, Principal Dr. Y.S Parmar G.P.G. College Nahan. The theme of the camp was Youth for Better Environment. Special activities undertaken in the camp were Rally on Environment, use of polybricks, Beautification of the campus and cultural activities (Mime, Classical dance, Kangri dance, Group dance and Nati) etc.
